Arthrosamid®
Arthrosamid is an innovative, long-lasting hydrogel injection designed to relieve the symptoms of knee osteoarthritis.
What is Arthrosamid®?
Arthrosamid is an innovative, long-lasting hydrogel injection designed to relieve the symptoms of knee osteoarthritis.
Once injected into the knee joint, it binds with the synovial membrane to provide a framework to promote regrowth of the synovium and improve joint health.
Unlike traditional injections, this hydrogel doesn’t break down quickly — it stays in the joint and synovial membrane to help provide durable relief.
Why is Arthrosamid® useful for me?
If knee pain is affecting your walking, exercise, sleep, or day-to-day life, Arthrosamid may offer the support you’ve been looking for.
Patients choose Arthrosamid because:
- Long-lasting improvement — designed to give relief for up to several years.
- Single-treatment solution — one injection, no ongoing courses.
- Improved joint comfort — helps reduce pain, stiffness, and swelling.
- Supports easier movement — many people notice better mobility for everyday tasks.
- A modern alternative — an option when steroid or hyaluronic acid injections haven’t lasted long enough.
Are there any contraindications?
Arthrosamid may not be suitable for everyone. You may not be able to have this treatment if you:
- Have an infection in or around the knee
- Have a known allergy to polyacrylamide or any component of the injection
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding (due to limited safety data)
- Have had recent knee surgery or are planning surgery soon
- Have certain inflammatory or autoimmune joint conditions (your clinician will assess this)

The Arthrosamid injection is done by one of our SEM doctors (Dr Chris Milne) under ultrasound guidance.
The cost £2100 per injection (or £3900 for a double injection for example both knees).
How long is an appointment and how do I book?
The Arthrosamid injection appointment is slightly different to our other injections. There is a requirement for an oral antibiotic to be taken a period before the injection. With this, you will come for an initial 30 minute consultation with Dr Milne who will examine you, assess your suitability and prescribe the antibiotic. You will then be asked to return in 90 mins time for the injection. There is a café on-site with free wi-fi to keep you entertained during your wait.
