Basic Life Support in Adults

When should you stop CPR?

  • When someone else more qualified is available to take over
  • When the ambulance arrives and you are instructed to stop
  • The casualty shows signs of recovery by opening eyes, coughing, speaking, moving purposefully AND breathing normally
  • The AED is assessing for a cardiac rhythm
  • You are physically exhausted and can’t continue
